The Uniform Division is commanded by Captain Leslie B. Holmes. As Commander of the Uniform Division, Captain Holmes is responsible for the efficient operation of the Patrol Division, Warrant Division, Court Services, and the School Resource Officer.
It is the responsibility of the Lamar County Sheriff's Office Uniform Patrol Division to respond to all calls for law enforcement service within the unincorporated areas of Lamar County and assist within the City of Milner. The Uniform Division is by far the largest and most visible component of the Lamar County Sheriff's Office. When not responding to calls for service, officers of the Uniform Patrol Division aggressively enforce the traffic laws of the State of Georgia and patrol the area to ensure the safety of the citizens in the county.
Captain Baines-Holmes is a long time Sheriff’s Office employee. She is originally from Wharton, Texas, where she attended Wharton Community College, and she has made Lamar County her home since 1998. She is a veteran of the United States Army, honorably discharged in September 1997 and she began her law enforcement career with Lamar County as a Jailer in March 1998. Since that time she has held the positions of Booking Sergeant, Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant. She has been nominated on two occasions for the honor of Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and is also active in the Bethel Baptist Church.
The Warrant/Civil Division of the Lamar County Sheriff's Office is staffed by three full-time employees. This division is responsible for the processing and execution of criminal arrest warrants, preparation and service of civil processes and inmate transports. Additional duties often include funeral escorts and execution of court orders including the completion of Evictions, Writs of Possession and the collection of other judgments issued by the courts.
