Commanded by Captain Todd Pippin, the Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for the investigative follow up on all incident reports generated by the Uniform Patrol Division to ensure that every report written receives the proper case closure. The Detectives in the Criminal Investigation Division work diligently to solve crimes reported to the Uniform Division.

Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division investigate crimes against property which includes such acts as burglary, auto theft, financial transaction fraud, and identity theft. Detectives also investigate crimes against persons such as armed robberies, murder, aggravated assault, rape, and family violence.  Investigators are on-call to respond to serious crime incidents 24 hours a day.  Lamar County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division currently has one officer assigned to the Narcotics Task Force as well as three Officers assigned to our drug interdiction unit.

Captain Todd Pippin

Capt. Todd Pippin has over 19 years of Law Enforcement experience.  He has served in all areas of law enforcement from detention, dispatch, and patrol, to corrections, and investigations. The majority of Capt. Pippin’s career has been in Criminal Investigations where he has acquired over 2000 hours in specialized training. His training consists of Burglary, Robbery, Criminal Sexuality, Firearms, Homicide, Interviews and Interrogations, Search and Seizure, Narcotics, Juvenile Investigations and management. Capt. Pippin has received certificates from the University of Louisville in Homicide and Criminal Sexuality Investigations, Specialized training for Intermediate and Advanced Meth Labs, and S.W.A.T. POST Certifications. He has completed the Georgia Command College Professional Management Program (PMP) from Columbus State University.

 

Captain Pippin has held positions with Lamar County, Upson County, Griffin Police Department, and the Multi-County Drug Task Force.

 

As Commander of the Investigative Division, Capt. Pippin is responsible for Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Investigation, Evidence collection and storage, The Narcotics Task Force coordination, Interstate Crime Enforcement, Canine Operations, Seizures and Asset Forfeiture, and the Sex Offender Registry.
