MISSION STATEMENT

To Protect and to serve the people of Lamar County through provision of the highest quality of law enforcement and public safety; to work in partnership with the community, and to respect each individual’ to improve the quality of life for all Lamar County citizens by enforcing the law without regard for race, creed, color, sex national origin, or economic status; to foster the trust and support of all citizens in the county by a total commitment to the virtues of honesty, integrity, and morality; to serve the young people of the county by providing a presence, programs, and security in the elementary, middle, and high schools; to recognize the value and importance of every member of the Sheriff’s Office as we uphold the letter and spirit of this mission; and to insure that everyone is treated equitably and fairly; while providing all employees of the Sheriff’s Office with the highest quality of leadership, training, and equipment needed to accomplish its mission.

We will accomplish our mission:

  1. Through EDUCATION of students in all grades with a development of trust, support, and camaraderie in the education community.  Our objective is to continually develop young people as leaders and to curb the demand for drugs among all Lamar County citizens.
  2. By the PATROL AND INVESTIGATIONS DIVISIONS to purge the County of drug dealers, burglars, and other criminal elements who prey on law abiding citizens and corrupt young people in the county and to make roads and highways safer through vigorous traffic enforcement.
  3. Through the LAMAR DETENTION CENTER in taking charge of inmates that are consigned to the care of the Sheriff.  Each inmate in custody will be treated equitably and fairly without regard of race, creed, sex, national origin, or economic status.
